About the Outreach Center
The Cape and Islands Veterans Center is the only center specifically serving the needs of veterans and their families on Cape Cod and the islands.
Established in 1982 by the Nam Vets Association of the Cape and Islands, originally to serve the needs of the veterans of the Vietnam Era. Membership and service has since been expanded to include veterans of all eras.The Nam Vets Association is a non-profit (501(c)(3) tax exempt organization . The Outreach Center is partially funded by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through the Department of Veterans Services. Additional funding is supplied by the NVA by means of grants, contributions, and fundraising events that are critical to the ongoing operations of the outreach centers' service programs.
The center's day to day operations are managed by highly qualified and experienced staff which is supported by a professionally diverse and active volunteer Board of Directors. The center's primary purpose is to provide counseling for veterans and their families. Programs also include advocacy, assistance with state and federal benefits, health care assistance, employment and career training, needs assistance, housing, and service delivery to the homeless. Counseling includes both individual and group, ranging in service level from peer to doctorate. The center maintains a broad based referral system for the basic needs of all veterans.
